Step-by-Step Guide to Install an Android App Locally from an .apk File (i.e Android Devices) 

 

Step 1: Get the .apk File

Download Link: https://www.plasticpath.org/dwl/PlasticPath_beta.apk

 

Make sure you have the .apk file saved on your smart phone in one of the following locations:

·      My Files → Documents

·      Or any other folder you can access through the My Files app.

 

Step 2: Allow “Install Unknown Apps” 

Before installing, Samsung devices require permission to install apps from sources outside the Play Store.

1.        Open Settings → Apps.

2.        Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner → select Special access.

3.        Tap Install unknown apps.

4.        From the list, find and select your file manager app (e.g., My Files) or browser (e.g., Samsung Internet, Chrome).

5.        Turn on the switch for “Allow from this source.”

 

Note: The menu names may vary slightly depending on your One UI version.

 

Step 3: Install the .apk File 

1.        Open the My Files app on your Samsung device.

2.        Navigate to the folder where the .apk file is saved (usually Downloads).

3.        Tap the .apk file.

4.        When prompted, tap Install.

5.        Wait until the installation completes.

 

Step 4: Launch the App

Once installation finishes:

·      Go to your Apps screen (swipe up from the home screen).

·      Find the newly installed app icon.

·      Tap it to open and start using the app.
