Strengthening skills and building local capacity is at the heart of this project. Our trainings and workshops are designed not only to raise awareness, but to equip people with the practical tools needed to reduce plastic pollution, adopt sustainable practices, and support a circular economy in Bangladesh.

Over the course of the project, a wide range of workshops have been delivered across different parts of the country—tailored to the specific needs of policymakers, recyclers, youth leaders, informal workers, healthcare professionals, market vendors, and community groups. Each session is developed in close coordination with the Department of Environment and other technical partners to ensure relevance and long-term value.

For public institutions, trainings have focused on the development and implementation of key regulatory frameworks—such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the phase-out of single-use plastics—building technical understanding and inter-ministerial coordination around sustainable plastics governance. For waste workers and small recyclers, the focus has been on improving occupational health and safety, plastic sorting techniques, environmental compliance, and basic business skills. These sessions are helping to formalize informal actors and improve the quality and value of recycled materials.

Healthcare workers in Sirajganj were trained in biomedical plastic waste segregation and safe disposal practices, while students and teachers in schools across Cox’s Bazar were introduced to action-based learning through Eco-Clubs. In Dhaka, university students, market vendors, and bazar committees participated in clean-up workshops, debate competitions, and awareness-building sessions—many of which have led to lasting commitments from local communities.

All trainings are designed to be inclusive, participatory, and grounded in real-world challenges. Gender balance and equitable participation are a core priority, with many sessions ensuring women’s representation in traditionally male-dominated roles such as waste handling and factory operations.

Stay tuned—more training opportunities are on the way. If you're interested in learning more or participating in upcoming sessions, you can sign up to be notified about future workshops, seminars, and learning events.
